It’s time to remove the stigma!
As rap music continues to grow and is tagged the “language” of urban America, breakthrough artist Knine has embraced the scene with his positive form of lyrical anecdotes. Deeming himself the “Passion of Christ on wax,” Knine continues to introduce new ideas, new stories and new solutions to those who are “tired of the same ole’ thing.”
Assertive, persistent and dedicated to leading others to peace, love and life, Knine likens his image to “man’s best friend,” displaying a spiritual boldness that emanates both on and offstage. He proudly accepts the fact that he is unique—that there is only one Knine—escaping trends that will ultimately christen him one of the nation’s best rappers.
Following the enormous success of his first, self-produced release, Regardless, Knine’s sophomore project, Born Again, serves as a true introduction to the artist. “For my last project I wasn’t sure what subjects were taboo,” he explains. “Now I’m confident in who I am. This album is my most complete project because it reveals my whole life from beginning to end.”
Indeed, Born Again discloses the profound thoughts and feelings of a man who recognized his need for a fresh start, a new walk, a new talk, new surroundings…all of which he found through his faith. “I chose to include my [14-month old] son, Kamron, on the album cover to serve as a representation of my own spiritual reincarnation. Sometimes we have to become like babies. I’ve had to learn a whole new language…a whole new way of life.”
While the artist was introduced to Christian principles at an early age, the immediate satisfaction of fast-paced living caused him to stray away from God. During this time he recognized his talent for rap, but never gained the focus to develop his skill. In July 1999, following a near-death experience, he surrendered to God’s call.
Today the young Milwaukee, WI native has chosen to hone and utilize his gift in a manner that glorifies God. Instead of praising the drugs and crime that he once participated in, he’s shifted his subject matter to reveal the consequences of such choices.
Beyond his achievements as a solo rap artist, he is co-owner of Regardless Entertainment Group, a record label introduced in April 2004 that carries forth his desire to relay positive messages. As his career continues to flourish, Knine asserts that the label will serve as “a haven for people to make music. I want people to be able to make music from the heart. If I can make a change that way, others can as well.” And there’s no disputing that Knine’s music is doing just that—changing the face of the rap world.
